Don’t see yours? Call us at (786) 751-6421.
How do we book?
Tap Ask to book on any trip and tell Captain Jimmy your dates, or call or text him at (786) 751-6421. He'll confirm your trip with you directly.
How much does a trip cost?
A half day (4 hours) is $1,000, a 3/4 day (6 hours) is $1,300 and a tarpon trip (4 hours) is $900. A full day (8 hours) is $1,600 on the 28 ft boat and $1,900 on the 36 ft boat. Every price is for the boat and up to 6 guests.
What's included, and what should we bring?
Rods, reels, tackle, bait, fishing licenses, a full crew and a cooler full of ice. Bring whatever you'd like to eat and drink, and your own cooler too if you like.
Where do we meet?
At the marina at The Hammocks at Marathon, the Bluegreen resort at 1688 Overseas Hwy, by Barnacle Barney's Tiki Bar and Grill. Park in the large lot out front, walk along the left side of the building to the back, and follow the sandy path past the pool deck and the tiki bar to the dock. High Caliber's boats are the first and second on the left.
How many of us can come?
Up to 6 guests on every trip. Bringing a bigger group? High Caliber has two boats, so you can split up and fish the same day.
What time do trips leave?
Most trips leave around 7:30 in the morning. If you're driving in from Miami or Key West, ask about a later start; Captain Jimmy can be flexible when he has no other trip that day. Tarpon trips start earlier, around 5:30 to 6:00, when they're feeding.
What if we need to cancel?
A 20% deposit holds your date. If your plans change, let Captain Jimmy know at least 48 hours before your trip. If you cancel within 48 hours of the trip, the deposit is kept. Bad weather is different. If a storm is coming, Captain Jimmy is flexible and will work it out with you.
Are beginners and kids welcome?
Yes. Captain Jimmy and his crew are patient with first-timers and kids, and teach you how to land the fish. After the trip, kids can feed the tarpon and nurse sharks off the dock.
What happens to our fish?
The crew fillets, packages and freezes your catch at the dock so it's ready to take home, and Captain Jimmy can tell you how to fly it home as carry-on luggage. Some guests take it straight to a local restaurant to have it cooked for dinner.
What will we catch?
On the reefs and wrecks, mangrove, mutton and yellowtail snapper, grouper, amberjack, mackerel and sharks. Offshore, mahi, blackfin tuna, sailfish, kingfish and wahoo. In the channels and along the bridges, tarpon.
What if someone gets seasick?
Let Captain Jimmy know. When the ocean is rough, he can fish calmer water inshore, by the bridges or on the Gulf side.
Can I bring my fly rod?
Yes. Tell Captain Jimmy when you book. One group caught more than half of their dolphin on the fly.
Is there a bathroom on board?
Yes. Both boats have a full bathroom with a sink.

Still wondering?
Call or text Captain Jimmy before you book. He'll talk the trips through with you and help you pick the water for your group.
